Using nature and mindfullness to help cope with stress from work and Caregiving I learned the art of "use what you have" big time while working and Caregiving. I was not always able to get off into a quiet park setting with birds singing and babbling brooks nearby but I learned to be creative in having an exeperience as if I was. Parks are sometimes less busy during the week and an hour after traditional lunch times, for example 1PM...2PM would be optimal but getting out of the office at that time may not always be possible. Sometimes we have to get creative. I have used eye covers, the CALM App, my cars air conditioner and head phones to create a space to retreat and get a much needed nap or mental break. Caregiving and working taxes our bodies beyond words and we have to take every possible precaution to avoid burnout. Many of us use our lunch breaks to run errands I understand that, but even 15 minutes makes a huge difference. A 30 -minute nap can recharge very worn batteries. Don't underestimate the power of a "power nap", it works wonders. What are some things you have used to take a break from the workday before returning to your caregiving duties?
